Microsoft and Amazon AI deals may have a ‘problem’ in the UK: What the companies have to say

Britain’s competition watchdog is looking into partnerships between Microsoft and Amazon with smaller AI companies. The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has asked for public feedback on deals like Microsoft with French AI firm Mistral and Amazon with US startup Anthropic, as well as Microsoft hiring of employees of Inflection AI.

The goal is to see if these deals could reduce competition in the AI market, and the regulator has sought comments from interested parties by May 9 before potentially launching a formal investigation.
