The UK should agree a youth mobility scheme with the EU, London’s Labour mayor Sadiq Khan has said in a sharp break from his party’s frosty response to an EU Commission proposal for a deal last week.
Khan, who is seeking to win a third term next week, rejected remarks by both Labour and government officials equating youth mobility to freedom of movement. Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour has ruled out a return to free movement as one of its Brexit red lines.
